“You can only grab your head”

The future head of the Chancellery of the President, Zbigniew Bogucki, signaled in Polsat News that the windmill act may encounter the strong resistance of the Presidential Palace. He drew attention to doubts about the constitutionality of the Act and the legislative process, in which significant amendments were introduced only in the Senate. Bogucki estimated that the act is a kind of “ambush”, aimed at the head of state, where social covers and reduction of energy bills were woven into the regulations regarding the construction of wind turbines.

When will the energy prices fall?
Prime Minister Tusk, when asked about these announcements, did not hide his indignation: “If the suggestion of the new president actually heads against signing this law, you can only grab his head.” The head of government emphasized that The Act enables the development of the cheapest energy sources, which are currently wind turbines on land. He also recalled the previous declarations of President Nawrocki about lowering electricity prices in a short time, indicating that such statements may result from a lack of understanding of market mechanisms.
“Energy prices may fall when the government pays extra for freezing prices – it is already in the act – or when cheap energy sources are developing, which the act also provides,” said Tusk. The Prime Minister appealed to the president for a constructive attitude, indicating that the ministry is looking for all solutions that will make life easier for home farms: “I would prefer, Mr. President, that in such obvious matters you would help and not disturb.”
According to the so -called windmill law, the minimum distance of new wind turbines from residential buildings is to be reduced from currently 700 m to 500 m. The key element of the amendment is also the extension of the freezing of electricity prices for households at the level of PLN 500 per MWh net to the fourth quarter of 2025. Currently, this mechanism is valid until the end of September this year.
Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyk maintained that in the case of a presidential veto, the government may consider breaking up the law into two separate projects, where only the provisions on freezing of electricity prices would include in one. “On the table we also have the opportunity to recalculate tariffs. We already know that they will be lower thanks to the activities of energy companies. We will see how to shape the frostning for new tariffs,” said the minister.
Although the debate around the windmill act is gaining momentum, one thing is certain – issues regarding energy prices and the development of renewable energy sources will be one of the key tests for cooperation between the government -resident.
