Tragic news for the goalkeeper of Bayern Munich, Sven Ulreich, his wife, Lisa, and their daughter, Malia. Their son and brother, Len, recently died at the age of six. The family made the announcement in a statement.

“With deep sadness, we must announce today that our son, Len, died a few weeks ago, after a long and difficult suffering,” the statement said by Sportal. “The decision to make this public now is incredibly difficult for us – but it is an important step for our family, to give clarity to those around us and the public.”

The bereaved family thanked for discretion

“Together with our daughter, we are now trying to find our way back to life, step by step,” continues Ulreich and his wife. “Special thanks to friends and FC Bayern Munich club for the extraordinary discretion and support – they have meant enormously for us.”

The family begs, in these difficult times, to be respected their privacy. Their son, Len, was born in 2018, one day after Bayern Munich won the match with AEK Athens (2-0) of the Champions League. “We are grateful for this wonderful gift,” said the German goalkeeper at the time.

Sven Ulreich recently extended his contract until 2026

Ulreich has long been the reserve of Manuel Neuer at Bayern Munich, except for a season at Hamburger SV. Recently, the 36-year-old goalkeeper extended his contract with one season until July 1, 2026. Currently, it is the third option, after Neuer and Jonas Urbig.

Bayern took Ulreich from VFB Stuttgart, in 2015, in exchange for 3.5 million euros, so that in 2020 it would give it free to Hamburg. A year later, he returned to Germany's current champion, with whom he won, among others, 9 titles in the Bundesliga, a Champions League, a European Super Cup and 3 Cups of Germany.
