“On the basis of the highly provocative statements of the former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, who currently serves as the Vice -President of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I gave the order to deploy two submarines with nuclear weapons in the appropriate regions – in case these stupid and incorrect words turned out to be more than just words” – wrote Trump.
He added that “Words are very important and can often lead to unintentional consequences” – and expressed the hope that in this case such effects would not occur.
Trump's declaration appeared after the loud and aggressive statements of Dmitry Medvedev, who in recent days threatened the West, suggesting the possibility of escalating armed conflict, and even the use of nuclear weapons. In the past, Medvedev has repeatedly formulated similar threats, but this time the US reaction was immediate and determined.
