Donald Trump's duties approved. The US president has signed ordinances

According to the decree published by the White House, a 15 % duties rate has been imposed on most countries, which mostly means lower tariffs than those announced in April. These are mostly countries that have a small surplus in trade with the US and those that agreed the terms of the trade agreement, such as European Union, Japan and South Korea
Compared to the original customer announcement with April 2, the higher customs will cover, among others Products from Canada, the second largest US trading partner. From 10 to 15 percent Customs duties from Turkey and Switzerland will also increase (from 31 to 39 percent).

At the same time, imports from Taiwan-which despite the efforts did not agree on the contract with the Trump administration-will be covered by a 20 % duty (originally the rate was to be 32 percent). Smaller than before will also take rates to goods, including from Moldova (25 instead of 31 %), Bangladesh (20 instead of 37 %).
According to the text of the regulation and contrary to the announcements of Trump and the White House, the new duties are to apply not immediately, but 7 days after its publication. The exceptions are the customs of goods from Canada, which will come into force on Friday.
Higher duties for Canada
As the high -ranking representative of the administration explained during the briefing for the press, the duties on goods from Canada were raised because it did not show in the conversations “the same level of constructivity” as Mexico, which was extended to the date for negotiations for the next 90 days. Earlier, Trump also criticized the announcement of Canada Prime Minister Marek Carney that he would recognize Palestine's statehood, claiming that this statement would be an obstacle to the conclusion of a trade agreement.
The American official also explained that the current 10 % rate has been maintained by countries with a commercial deficit in the US exchange. This group includes Australia.
Despite the announcement of new rates, negotiations with a number of countries are to be underway, including with India, to be covered by a 25 % duty. On Wednesday, President Trump announced that he would also impose a penalty on India for buying Russian oil, but it is not clear to which the punishment is to take.
It is still unclear whether the validity of lower duties on goods from China (30 percent) after the last round of talks of the delegation of both countries in Sweden will be extended. The current truce in the trade war between the powers will expire on August 16.
