Participants of the first youth jubilee event from over 140 countries filled the entire square in front of the Vatican Basilica and Via Della Conciliazione leading to it. Hundreds of flags from around the world, including many white and red.
Mass was celebrated by the proprrefect of the dicasteries for evangelization, responsible for the organization of the Year, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, who in six languages welcomed young people on behalf of Pope Leon XIV.

The hierarch said: – Thank you for accepting the Pope's invitation to take part in the Jubilee dedicated to hope. You came from all over the world. There are friends who also come from many zones of war; From Ukraine to Palestine reaches all the embrace of the brotherhood that unites us – said Archbishop Fisichella.
– Let there be signs of your friendship with them. Many of you have made many sacrifices to be here in Rome. God will not disappoint you – emphasized the Italian archbishop.
– Experience these days with joy and spirituality, discovering new friendships, and above all contemplate Rome and many works of art, which is an expression of faith, which gave birth to so much beauty – noted Archbishop Rino Fisichella.
The head of the Police Headquarters in Rome Roberto Massucci confirmed the Vatican forecast on Tuesday, according to which about a million people will participate in the jubilee. His culminating events will take place on the weekend at the University of Campus Tor Vergata: this is Saturday's prayer vigil with Leon XIV and the papal mass on Sunday morning.
