After 14 years! Léon Marchand brought down the world record at 200 meters mixed in Singapore!

Marchand was the most gallant swimmer at last year's Olympics, winning gold medals at 200 meters and 400 meters mixed, as well as in 200 meter butterflies and 200 meters in Paris.

At Singapore, Marchand gave up the butterfly and bras samples, planning to rest better to try to beat Lochte's record from 200 m mixed, 1: 54.00, which lasted 14 years.

“It is a year of transition to me, so I wanted to have a program easier than usual,” says Marchand before starting CM from Singapore.

“I wanted to focus on the 200 m mixed and 400 m mixed samples and the French team. I am very excited to do less than usual, just to see how far I can reach, how quickly I can swim in the 200 m mixed test,” adds the athlete.

At the Paris OJ, Leon Marchand ended the 200 m mixed sample with 6 -fouer seconds than Ryan Lochte's record

The Frenchman won the gold medal in the 200 meters and 400 meters mixed at the World Championships in 2022 and 2023 and is the current holder of the world record for the longer sample, 4: 02.50, established at the 2023 CM in Fukuoka.

At 200 meters mixed, in Paris, when he won the Olympic title, Marchand ended only six hundreds of seconds than the American record.

The final at 200 meters mixed, which will have the focus of Leon Marchand, is scheduled tomorrow, July 31, at 2:23 pm, Romania time.
