The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadîrov, known for his loyalty to Russian President Vladimir Putin, was close to drowning while at the Luxury Resort in Turkey, according to the local press, quoted by Euronews and Kyiv Post.
The incident spent on Thursday, July 24, where Kadîrov was staying at a five -star hotel near the Kaina beach near Bodrum. Around noon, the Chechen leader entered the water, but shortly afterwards began to encounter difficulties and, according to several Turkish publications, began to fight and drown.
The hotel staff intervened quickly, requesting the intervention of the rescue teams. Kadîrov was removed from the water and transported to the hospital. According to the latest information, his life is not in danger.
Although several publications in Turkey reported the incident, Kadîrov did not offer any public reaction, and the official media channels in Russia keep silent.
In the past, Kadîrov has fueled speculation about his health. In a video from May 2024, the Chechen leader states that “the disease and death are the path of every man”, without confirming or denied the rumors.
In the same year, the publication of Novaya Gazeta Europe claimed that Kadîrov suffers from a pancreatic disease and that he was preparing to teach power, naming his teenage son, Adam, as possible successor. Another son, Akhmat, 18 years old, was appointed minister in the Chechen government in the spring of this year.
In parallel, Kremlin loyal-loyal fighters-nicknamed “Kadîroviți”-continues to actively participate in the Ukraine war, including key battles.
A possible disappearance of Kadîrov could have important effects in the Caucasus. Pro-Ukrainian rebel leaders in the Chechian diaspora claim that his death would be a moment of “great joy” for the Chechen people, exhausted by his repressive regime.
The Kremlin is based on Kadîrov, 48, to maintain stability in the North Caucasus after years of disorders.
