Ion Sterian was reconfirmed to the position of general director of Transgaz, by the vote of the Board of Directors, with a warrant valid until April 29, 2029.

Sterian has been leading Transgaz since 2017, keeping his position regardless of the party that controlled the General Secretariat of the Government, the majority shareholder of the company.

According to Europafm.ro, in his last declaration of wealth related to the revenues of 2023, the official mentioned that he received 1,900,000 net lei, ie 158,000 lei per month, the equivalent of 31,000 euros/month.

He is one of the best paid heads of institutions or companies with majority state capital, writes also Economia.ro, who notes that the revenues of Ion Sterian are composed of:

  • Net fixed remuneration worth 414,185 lei
  • days leave of rest, net amount: 59,623 lei.
  • Variable remuneration: 1,440,520 lei net

His administration contract establishes that Ion Sterian will receive 24 monthly net fixed allowances if he will be dismissed from office in the first two years of mandate, without fair reasons, writes PressHub.

If it will be changed from office after two years, it will receive the rest of the money until the four -year contract expires. At the same time, all the expenses related to the execution of the mandate will be reimbursed, regardless of whether they were occasioned by the travel to the country or abroad.

Ion Sterian owns four buildings, of which an apartment of almost 100 square meters in the United Arab Emirates.

According to the organizational chart, the director of Transgaz has five secretaries, nine counselors, a specialist in PR and seven drivers.

A document obtained by G4media shows about the expenses with the staff from Transgaz that they increased by almost 150 million lei in just two years, from 533,574,824 lei in 2022, to 683,571,928 in 2024.
