The president of ANPC, Cristian Popescu Piedone, argues that the facts for which he is investigated by DNA were not committed with the intention to bring “any damage” or to obtain undue benefits, neither for him nor for another person.
Piedone presented on Wednesday morning at the Bragadiru Police headquarters, to present the obligations to be fulfilled in the judicial control. The head of SNPC is accused of DNA of warning a hotel in Sinaia of being targeted by checks.
“I was told what I had to do, I understood and I will respect,” said Cristian Popescu Piedone, at Antena 3, quoted by News.ro.
He also referred to the facts of which he is accused in the DNA file.
“Everything that was done was not done with any intention to harm someone, to bring an undue injury or use to someone or to another. As long as I was the ANPC president has fulfilled this function with dignity.” My control was public, “explained Cristian Popescu Piedone.
The DNA officially announced on Tuesday evening that ANPC president Cristian Popescu Piedone was placed under judicial control and has no right to exercise his position.
He is accused that, on March 7, he prevented the representative of the International Hotel in Sinaia that his subordinates are to carry out on the same day a control at his company, as well as the objectives of the control.
Thus, according to prosecutors, Piedone allowed the hotel representative to access this information, in order to obtain undue benefits by the economic operator, consisting of avoiding sanction for the irregularities found in the field of consumer rights.
In his first statements, Piedone acknowledged that he was a friend of the hotel owner, but claimed that he did not commit any crime and that his controls “disturbed”.
