Remember the viral riddle “What color dress?” – The very one that blew the Internet with disputes about blue and black or white and gold? Her author, Scot Keir Johnston, ended up in prison. The Men Today (16+) portal is shared by the news about how, a harmless mystery led to a gloomy story.
In 2015, a photograph of a dress published by Keir Johnston divided the world: some saw him blue-black, others-white-gold due to lighting. Disputes about the color became viral, and Johnston and his wife Grace became famous, falling on the show Ellen Dedeners. It seemed that this was a success story: an ordinary guy from Scotland created a global phenomenon. But behind the scenes his life went downhill, and in 2024 Johnston was behind bars.
The cause of the prison imprisonment is not a mystery, but domestic violence. In March 2022, Johnston attacked his wife Grace on the island of Kolonssey. He pressed it to the ground, threatened it with a knife and beaten, which led to serious injuries. The court found that this was not an isolated case: Johnston humiliated and controlled Grace for years, limited her freedom and threatened her. The judge sentenced him to 4.5 years in prison for the “campaign of violence”, despite attempts to present it as self -defense.
This story is shocking: a person who gave the world a slight riddle was capable of cruelty. It recalls that Glory does not make a person better, and masks hide the dark sides.
