The case occurred on September 24, 2021, in the town of Jurilovca, from Tulcea county. Prosecutors found that the defendant offered the victim, a woman with a locomotive and mental disability, a juice in which she had previously mixed a lethal substance, later identified as carbofuran, a pesticide forbidden in the European Union, reports the Day of Constanta.
The forensic expertise established that the victim's death was caused by an acute asphyxia installed rapidly, following the ingestion of the toxic substance. It was found that it was poisoned to steal the disability allowance.
The woman was sentenced by the Tulcea Court, in June 2025, to an 18 -year prison sentence for qualified murder and robbery. The decision is not final, and the defendant declared an appeal. The file was registered at the Constanta Court of Appeal, and the first term of the trial was set in October.
According to the motivation of the substantive court, the defendant acted premeditated, following the victim's route, which used to go alone to the post office to pick up his money. After the victim drank the poisoned fluid, he entered an unconsciousness and collapsed on the staircase between the 2nd and 3rd floors of the 96 block of Jurilovca, being found dead.
