A man and a woman fell about 40 meters in a gorge on the Jiu Gorge, being difficult to get out of the steep area by firefighters and transported to the hospital.

An emergency intervention was triggered on the Defile Jiu Diminică, July 20, after an 112 call announcing that a person fell into a precipice. The rescuers started immediately to the indicated place, with a special discharge and a SMURD ambulance, later joining a crew of the County Ambulance Service.
Arriving on the spot, the intervention teams found that it was not only about a person, but about two victims, a man and a woman, who had fallen about 30-40 meters to the Jiu, in an extremely difficult area, with steep and rocky ground.
The woman was found conscious, with light wounds, but in full panic attack, while the man had suffered multiple trauma, requiring immediate immobilization from rescue crews.
To extract it safely, the rescuers used a special fair, managing to bring it to the ambulance, the intervention being difficult by the difficult land and the long distance to the access road.
After the initial stabilization on the spot, both victims were transported to the Petrosani hospital for additional investigations and specialized medical care.
