In Pulkovo (St. Petersburg), 90 flights were canceled, and another 37 flights were delayed. Long restrictions were introduced at the airport of Nizhny Novgorod “Strygino”. There they canceled the arrival and departure of 26 flights. Another 13 flights were delayed for more than two hours.
“The situation is a controlled, Russian air transportation system copes with periodic intervention in its work from the outside. Air enterprises have enough resources for work under the current conditions,” the Federal Air Transport Agency said.
The company did not directly name the cause of the air traffic violation, explaining only that the restrictions were applied “to ensure flight safety.”
On July 5, more than 170 flights were detained in the Russian Federation, more than 20 were canceled. Russian Telegram channels stated that this happened due to the threat of drone attacks.
