“The AI is not miraculous. It helps us a lot, but it does not make the decisions,” says an important director of the Romanian auto industry

Artificial intelligence is very useful, it reduces the number of operations to be done, but it is not a miracle, and the engineers are the final decisions, says Thierry Hilaire, who from July 1 is the general manager of the Renault Roumanie (RTR) engineering center.
“We have everywhere and we use it, based on experience and data, especially to reduce the number of validations we have to do and then we can focus on what is important and what to do,” said Thierry Hilaire, at a meeting meeting
“Artificial intelligence is not a miracle. We have a way of thinking on engineering and, finally, engineers are the ones who say we do so or otherwise or that we have to add a certain piece. Artificial intelligence helps us, but does not make decisions,” added the Renault Technology Roumanie.

The head of RTR says that the goal is for the development times to decrease by one year, and the AI will contribute to it, but it will not be the only factor. Renault Technology Roumanie (RTR) is the largest Renault Group engineering center and here are developed from the conception phase to the production phase.
The activity of RTR covers both the design, development and testing part of vehicles (product engineering), as well as the integration with the manufacturing processes (process engineering). There are four -place activities: Titu, Bucharest, Mioveni and Pitești.
