It is expected that a nine -day heat wave will increase temperatures by four to six degrees Celsius above seasonal standards, and in some Western provinces of temperature can reach up to 50 degrees.

Temperatures in Istanbul, the country's largest metropolis, will reach 37 degrees at the beginning of the coming week, and then increase.

Dilek Caliscan, a meteorology expert, warned that from Sunday to Thursday temperatures in western cities exposed to fires, such as Izmir, Aydin and Manisa, can reach 45 degrees in the shade and far over 50 degrees to a degree.

She added that in the coming period the winds will change the direction and will blow from the sea, which will potentially reduce the risk of fire, but will significantly increase the risk of heat stroke.

The Turkish state meteorological service issued warnings against growing heat, while the Ministry of the Environment, urbanization and climate change called society to be careful in connection with the increased risk of forest fires and risk to health.

“The increase in temperatures means that we must act more responsibly to protect both our health and our forests,” noted the Minister of the Environment Murat Kurum on a post on social networks.

Unlike the heat in the west and south, snowfall is expected at higher heights in Trabzon, Gumushane and Erzurum in the northeast of Turkey.
