Oleksandr Sîrski, the chief commander of Ukraine's armed forces, paid a two-day visit to the Slobojanski Sud area of the Kharkov region, a region under the constant threat of new Russian offensives, according to Ukrainskaia Pravda.
The visit comes in the context in which Ukrainian troops reject attacks daily, and Kiev is looking for tactical solutions to keep the invaders' advance.
“I do not ignore any part of the front line, especially in those areas where there is a threat of new offensive actions. I spent two days working in units in Kharkov region. I work with the commander of the common forces, the commander of the operation of the common forces in the Hortea, the Major General Mîhailo Drapatî. Here, in the direction of Slobojanski Sud, our soldiers rejected a total of over 60 enemy attacks in the last week. About a dozen fighting continues to take place every day ”, wrote Oleksandr Sîrski on Facebook.
During the visit, the Ukrainian commander carefully analyzed the operational situation on the ground, discussed directly with the military about their needs and requests, offering them the necessary indications to defend the front line.
“The Russians are trying to put pressure by number, but we have to be careful, to apply effective tactical and technological solutions to prevent invaders from advancement,” the commander said.
The tensions in the region increased after, on June 1, the Russian troops launched a missile attack on a Ukrainian army training unit, resulting in at least 12 people and the injury of over 60 soldiers.
The same day, the commander of the army, Mîkhailo Drapatî, presented his resignation, explaining that “as a commander, he failed to fully ensure his orders.”
However, just two days after the incident, President Volodimir Zelenski appointed Drapatî as the commander of the common forces, stressing that he will focus exclusively on the land fighting problems, in the context of intensifying Russian pressures on the front.
