The Ukrainian army hit a Russian military airport overnight in the Voronej region overnight, the General Staff of Kiev forces announced.

“On Saturday, units of the special forces of the Ukrainian army, in cooperation with other components of the defense forces, hit the Blysoglebsk aerodrome in the Voronezh region, as part of the enemy's ability to make air attacks,” the Ukrainian army informed on the X.

According to her, the aerodrome is the basis of operations of some enemy aircraft Su-34, Su-35S and Su-30SM.

“A warehouse with bombs, a training plane and other aircraft were hit.

The NASA Fire Information System (FIRMS) detected a fire near the Borisoglebsk military aerodrome shortly after the attack. The inhabitants of the area reported 8-10 strong explosions around 2 in the morning, local time, according to the Russian independent publication.

Drone attacks on more Russia targets

The attack was part of a larger drone attack campaign during the night throughout Russia, with explosions and fires reported in at least six regions, notes Kyiv Independent.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that 42 drones were intercepted in a three-hour period, most of them above the Belgorod, Briansk and Kursk regions, on the border with Ukraine.

The governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, said that two drones were shot down south of St. Petersburg, which caused the temporary suspension of flights to Pulkovo Airport. No victims or damage were reported.

The governor of the Smolensk region in western Russia said that the anti -aircraft units have shot down three drones without victims or damage. The governor of the Voronej region also announced the destruction of several drones.

An explosion was heard during the night and in Ceboksarî, the capital of the Republic of Ciuvașia, where video images distributed online showed a fire that would have erupted at a local industrial site.

In addition, an explosion was heard during the night in Engels, the Saratov region, some Telegram channels suggesting that a military aerodrome was probably targeted.

The Russian aerial bases are one of the main targets of Ukrainian drones, the goal being to limit the air attacks with rockets and bombs of Moscow forces.

The largest operation of this type, entitled “The spider's web”, took place at the beginning of last month, when coordinated attacks on several Russian air bases led to the destruction of a significant part of the string of Vladimir Putin's army.
