Tecău draws attention to the lack of infrastructure in the Romanian sport and emphasizes the need for investments in training and selection bases, questioned regarding the situation of the Dinamo sports base, where the works were again postponed.
The former tennis player will wear equipment from the Romanian brand to the Wimbledon legends, where he will play demonstrative matches, possibly with Robert Lindstedt. Tecău does not see, in the short term, a Romanian winner at Wimbledon, but trusts Jacqueline Cristian and Gabriela Ruse, whom he considers to reach the second week of the competition.

“Infrastructure is very important, land, people, services that are there. I really want to arrange all things and something happened. Maybe the work will start again. We need, athletes need training places, and specialists need spaces to make the selection.
I always wanted to represent a Romanian brand. As long as I played, I didn't have the opportunity, but I'm glad I can at least represent it in my career. I want to see the children, the young people, the amateur players, representing a Romanian brand. I will go with this brand to the Wimbledon legends tournament.
The team has already prepared for me an “all-White” equipment, according to the tradition there. I can't wait to wear it. Returning to Wimbledon grass brings a lot of emotions, I think it's the only tournament that is missing. At the professional competition I no longer have the opportunity to play, but I signed up for the legends competition. Robert Lindstedt was also accepted, I think I will play with him, although they have not yet announced us, no teams have been made”, Said Horia Tecău in the dialogue with the reporters present on the spot.

I am mentally ready, to see how the body is resist. There will be semi-competitive matches, for the public, for the show. It is nice that we will also play on the big fields, with former opponents, former colleagues. It will be a beautiful experience. I don't think we will have a wimbledon winner in Romania too soon.
We have talented children and young people, but to get to that level, it is a very, very long road. There are many steps to do there. The intensity and work you submit matters. In a short time, I don't see someone getting there.
There are chances for Wimbledon Romanians. Jacqueline Cristian and Gabriela Ruse showed confidence, climbed the standings and go there with the attitude that they can reach the second week. Then who knows … Anything can happen. It is important that they are constant.
Ten years ago I had another presence at the Grand Slam tournaments, I went to the upper stages, even dreamed of Grand Slam titles and I won them. Now it is not the same, the performances are no longer at the same level, but we must trust that, from somewhere, a remarkable result may occur. And I think this result can come from Jacqueline or Gabriela. We hope and wish them success!
