The extreme right -wing “Compact” magazine can be published – the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig, in East Germany ruled on Tuesday. Thus, in the main proceedings, he maintained his earlier decision, which was invalid as invalid for the government's publication of the magazine.

By announcing the judgment, Judge Ingo Kraft stated that the German constitution “guarantees the freedom of opinions and the press, even for the enemies of freedom.” In his opinion, the magazine did not exceed the “constitutional principles”. The DPA agency writes that With these types of judgments, it is crucial to assess whether in a given letter unconstitutional content is dominant or not.
A year ago, the court in Leipzig decided that although in the warehouse there were “signs of violation of human dignity” and “warrior and aggressive approach to elementary constitutional principles”, there are doubts whether the prohibition of issuing it is proportional to the offense.
The editor -in -chief of Juergen Elaesser adopted the Tuesday judgment of the court with satisfaction. He assessed that since it is impossible to prohibit the “compact”, it is also impossible to prohibit the action of an alternative to Germany (AfD), with which the party sympathizes with the magazine.
“We are the strongest voice of the opposition. You will still hear about us,” he announced.
Founded in 2010 in Brandenburg, “Compact” is about 40,000 copies. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BFV) took him in 2021 with special supervision.
In July 2024, the then interior minister of Germany Nancy Faeser banned the publication of the magazine. Justifying this decision, Faeser said that “Compact” is “the main tube of the right -wing extremist scene”, and “incurring hatred towards Jews, people of migration origin and German parliamentary democracy.” (PAP)
