XI Jinping will not take part in the BRICS Summit

Representatives of China, who took part in the preparations for the summit, also referred to the fact that the Chinese leader he met twice In less than a year, with the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva: during the G20 summit and a state visit to this Latin American country in November 2024, and then in May during the forum in Beijing.
As the interlocutors noted, Lula Da Silva visited China in May, showing “a gesture of good will in the hope that the chairman of the PRC would repay the same.” Now Brazil does not hide disappointment by decision XI – emphasized the sources of the newspaper. According to them, instead of the Chairman of the PRC, the Chinese delegation will be led by Prime Mini Li Qiang, as was the case during the G20 summit in New Delhi in 2023.
Information about the possible resignation of the leader from participation in the BRICS summit in Brazil appeared for the first time at the beginning of this year. In February, a special adviser to the President of Brazil for International Celso Celso Amorim met with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing, where he raised this issue. “I told them: »BRICS without China is not BRICS«” – said Amorim.
The decision of Beijing could have been influenced by the invitation of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for dinner after the summit. In this case, XI Jinping could be “perceived as a supporting actor”.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in the BRICS summit in Brazil, but it is not yet known in what format – informed his adviser Yuri Ruszakov. Last fall, Putin did not go to the G20 summit in Brazil because of the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (MTK). At the same time, the Brazilian president guaranteed that Putin would not be detained in the event of participation in the event.
