When asked on Tuesday by journalists in the Sejm, why, in view of the reports of irregularities, you cannot recalculate votes in the presidential election, Kaczyński replied, “because there are no grounds”.
– There is no such institution of the conversion of all votes at all, and there is a principle of legalism, the state works on the basis of and as part of the law – he added.
He stated that “the elections were fair”. He also assessed that “there are a lot of politicians who question the results of the election in one way or another”, “because they simply cannot accept failure.” He added that “it is not in the interest of Poland what this gang is doing, which is now trying to convince that the elections were forged.”
Asked why he refuses to convert the votes, where necessary, Kaczyński replied: “Because it is completely unlawful.”
Kaczyński: The terrible defeat of this coalition
Noting that he would probably protest himself if he knew that his voice cast to Karol Nawrocki was “shifted” in the election commission at Rafał Trzaskowskithe head of PiS replied that “there are no reasons to judge” that such irregularities occurred in many cases. Journalists reminded that according to information from the prosecutor's office, e.g. in one of the two regional committees in Bielsko-Biała, in which there were irregularities, 160 votes cast for Trzaskowski were placed in a package with voices assigned to Nawrocki and so they were written in the protocol.
