Erdogan announces support for the peace conversations of Ukraine and Russia

On the same day, the Kremlin offered Ukraine direct peace conversations that would take place on May 15 in Istanbul, without preliminary conditions. The Kremlin's proposal was commented by French President Emmanuel Macron, who assessed her as a “delay maneuver”. “This is the first step, but insufficient,” Macron emphasized, adding that Russia wants to gain time, and similar delay games were already criticized by the West.
In response to the Russian initiative, Ukraine and its western allies remain unambiguous in their demands. On Saturday in Kiev, the so -called “Coalitions willing” with the participation of Polish, France, Germany and Great Britain leaders. Together with the President Volodymyr Zelnski, they called Russia to an unconditional, 30-day suspension of weapons and joining peace conversations.
The head of the Chancellery of the President of Ukraine, Andrij Jermak, explained that the suspension of weapons is a preliminary condition for all conversations. – “First, a 30-day suspension of weapons, then everything else. The suspension of the weapon is the first step towards the end of the war and will confirm Russia's readiness to end up killing” – he wrote in a telegram.
About 30 countries supported the joint message of leaders from Kiev, including US President Donald Trump. In the absence of an agreement or its violation, the imposition of new, coordinated sanctions on Russia was announced.
