New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Sunday alert on high readiness for the state. The decision was made after the US forces attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities.

“All state agencies, public utilities and other elements of critical infrastructure remain in a state of increased readiness, monitoring possible threats. As part of MTA precautions (metropolitan transport authorities) and the port management implemented anti -terrorist protection procedures in cooperation with local order services,” Hochul said.

Although – as she noted – intelligence data do not indicate the existence of specific, reliable threats to the state of New York, it is necessary to maintain vigilance due to its “global profile”. The state police were directed to patrol areas around religious places and other potentially endangered places.

“We carefully follow the development of the situation in Iran. We are cautious with the presence of services in places of religious, cultural and diplomatic significance throughout New York, working with federal partners,” added Hochul.

The New York Police Department also announced an increase in the number of officers at the city's key points.
