Lenovo gets superbrand status in Romania

Lenovo Romania was recognized as superbly by the prestigious international program of the same name, validating once again the commitment made by the company to constantly exceed the limits of technology, from PCs with artificial intelligence to advanced data solutions. The Superbrands methodology involves the objective analysis of over 1,800 brands, out of over 60 business fields, made by specialists in marketing, advertising, strategic or branding, followed by the questioning of brands ranked through market research carried out by Ipsos Romania, the program partner.
With an ambitious vision of providing “Smarter Technology for All”, Lenovo is the world number one in PC production and number 1 on the Romanian PC market, with a market share of 30.66% in 2024, according to IDC data for Romania. The Superbrands distinction reflects the local and global efforts of the integrated teams of Lenovo, from design, research and development, supply chains, production, logistics to sales and marketing, in order to provide “smarter technologies for all”.
The story of the brand Lenovo
The story Lenovo started in 1984, when a small team of engineers in Beijing founded Legend, a company focused on providing and developing computer technologies. Until 1990, Legend launched its first PC, quickly becoming a dominant player on the China technology market. In 2003, the company changed its name to Lenovo, thus marking the intention to expand globally. The name of Brand Lenovo comes from Legend, – new/innovation. A key moment was the acquisition, in 2005, of the IBM PC division, including the emblematic Thinkpad brand. This movement allowed the transformation of Lenovo into a global competitor, combining IBM business expertise with Lenovo production capacity. In 2013, Lenovo became the largest producer of PCs worldwide, a position he currently holds. The expansion continued in 2014 with the purchase of Motorola Mobility, strengthening its presence on the smartphone market, and with the X86 servers division of IBM, extending even more in the field of company solutions.

In recent years, Lenovo has been transformed from a PC manufacturer into a provider of peak solutions, services and technologies in the field of artificial intelligence. In Romania, Lenovo trip started in 2005, with a small team of five employees with sales and marketing duties. By 2024, the company set up its own data center in Bucharest, which became one of Lenovo's main research and development centers. Currently, it has a team of over 250 professionals with advanced skills, including top engineers and specialized technical support teams, which contribute to the development of innovations and technological progress.
