Prosecutors are investigating how 31 employees of the City Hall have remained in office after they have met retirement although the administrative code stipulates that the employees can receive after the retirement age with 3 years, but under certain conditions, reports the local publication Ziarul de Iași.
“The prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Directorate-the Territorial Service Iași carry out investigations in a criminal case concerning suspicions regarding the commission, by civil servants, of crimes assimilated to corruption offenses”, said Mrs. Iași in a press release.
According to Ziarul de Iași, the prosecutors opened the December 2024 investigation and concern the legality in which several employees continued to work after reaching the retirement age.
According to the sources of the local publication, one of the offices where the prosecutors entered are that of human resources, the information center for citizens, but also at the computerization service.
Iași City Hall sent a press release stating that Mayor Mihai Chirica has no quality in this file and did not ask for his presence in conducting the searches. “More details about the subject of the investigation from the City Hall of Iași will be brought to the notice of the public opinion by the investigators,” the representatives of the City Hall of Iași said.
The damage calculated by the prosecutors in the case of the Iasi investigation amounts to 8 million lei.
