Another Air India flight, canceled due to a “technical error”, just a few days after the aviation tragedy in which 279 people died

The flight of 159, scheduled to take off on Tuesday at 1:10 pm (local time) at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was initially delayed by 110 minutes, then canceled. The information was confirmed by The Times and CNN, reporting that the cancellation was caused by a “Technical error”. The aircraft was to carry out the route with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner-the same model involved in the plane accident on June 12, 2025.
The canceled race had previously arrived from Delhi, replying exactly the flight itinerary of 171, which collapsed on Thursday shortly after take -off in Ahmedabad. The catastrophe resulted in 242 dead among passengers, including 52 British citizens, and 37 victims on the ground, when the plane hit a student dormitory.
A single survivor and an inquiry in progress
A single passenger, Viswash Kumar Ramesh, a British citizen, survived the impact, being admitted to a critical condition at a hospital in Ahmedabad. The accident is considered the worst aviation incident involving British citizens from the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Indian authorities have announced that they have recovered both black boxes of the collapsed aircraft, and the investigations are in progress. According to experts quoted by CNN, a hypothesis considered is the simultaneous loss of both engine power after take -off – an extremely rare scenario for this type of plane, in 2011 commercial service.
Several flights canceled over the past few days
Until Tuesday, at least seven international flights, most of them departing from Delhi and Mumbai, were canceled or marked as non -functional. During the weekend, a San Francisco -Mumbai flight was detained in Kolkata, while a Dreamliner Hong Kong -Delhi had to return to the starting point shortly after a possible technical problem, according to The Economic Times.
