Cucurda is this cucumber or melon? And here is a surprise: two in one! At first it crunches like a cucumber, and it will ripen – sweet, like a melon. IA EAOMEDIA shares the experience of growing this wonders, talks about pitfalls and reveals whether it is worth spending money on expensive seeds.
Cucurda is a hybrid that combines the freshness of the cucumber and the sweetness of melon. Matsarena F1 is one of the popular varieties, but growing it is not as easy as it seems. The seeds are expensive (about 150 rubles per 5 pcs.), And the germination can fail. This plant requires attention at the stage of seedlings.
Use the floor – liter cups without holes filled with universal soil by ¾ (sowing depth – 1.5 cm). Do not soak the seeds, but moisturize the soil daily so that there is no crust. The shoots appear in 5-7 days, but out of 5 seeds, only 2 – 3 can rise. Keep seedlings on a light windowsill. Unfortunately, only one seedling often survives.
For planting, select a plot of 1.5 × 1.5 m after onions, cabbage or tomato. Dig, make a hole with a diameter of 1 m with a moment of 10 – 15 cm. Plant it with a lump of earth without deepening, and cover a non -cup of cold and sun. The departure is simple: watering once a week with warm water (pour the hole), weeding, loosening. It is not necessary to form, just pinch the lashes over the site. One bush gives about 15 fruits that ripen from August to September.
The fruits first resemble cucumbers, but not to tear them with green – the taste is mediocre. Wait for complete spoke (August – September): Cucurdia will become sweet, with a caramel shade.
