The first reproaches appeared against Nicușor Dan even in the parties that support him: PNL and USR. Several liberal leaders challenged, in discussions inside the party, Nicușor Dan's strategy to delay the designation of a prime minister.

In the discussions held at the Cotroceni Palace, several names were mentioned for the role of technocrat prime minister: Ionuț Dumitru, former president of the Fiscal Council, Anca Dragu, the governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Moldova and Delia Velculescu, former head of the IMF mission in Greece.
