The first reproach to Nicușor Dan in the coalition. “Instead of designating Bolojan Premier, PSD has strengthened” sources

President Nicușor Dan aroused dissatisfaction in the ruling coalition by the decision to postpone the designation of a prime minister. Several PNL and USR leaders complained in the parties that Nicușor Dan's strategy do nothing but strengthen the PSD, a formation that, as a day, puts more and more conditions to ensure a parliamentary majority, support coalition for “Adevărul”.

Nicușor Dan is expected to designate a prime minister, favorite being Ilie Bolojan. But the president also takes into account the installation of a technocrat prime minister, the sources quoted say. The only excluded variant is that of the government rotary.
The first reproaches appeared against Nicușor Dan even in the parties that support him: PNL and USR. Several liberal leaders challenged, in discussions inside the party, Nicușor Dan's strategy to delay the designation of a prime minister.
“In the first days after the presidential election, the PSD was on the knees. Would have accepted any proposal from Cotroceni. As the day goes by, the PSD has become more and more voice, has recruited the SOS and can put more and more conditions to enter the government. Instead of designating Bolojan Prime Minister and closing the discussion, Nicușor Dan strengthened PSD”, Says one of the liberals present at the negotiations for the formation of the new government.
The Liberals sent to President Nicușor Dan that the best prime minister, in their vision, remains Ilie Bolojan. “A technocrat prime minister will have Cioloș's fate. It will have no political support and will be used strictly to adopt unpopular fiscal measures. We need a political government, and the prime minister is one of the leaders of the ruling coalition ”I support liberal sources for “Truth”.
At the discussions at the Cotroceni Palace, the PSD agreed in the first phase that Ilie Bolojan would take over the head of the Government. Then, Sorin Grindeanu asked for a new government rotary: Bolojan to now take over the position of prime minister, and the PSD will return to the Victoria Palace in 2027, a year before the local and parliamentary elections. PNL, USR and UDMR refused this scenario. Neither President Nicușor Dan agreed, on the grounds that the public administration would be blocked “half a year before and a half after the rotating”, the sources quoted say.
And the leader of the USR, Dominic Fritz, sent to President Nicușor Dan to appoint Ilie Bolojan prime minister to close the discussions about the possibility of a technocrat. “There are several voices from USR who have wondered if Nicușor Dan even wants Ilie Bolojan. We want a USR -Nicușor Dan – Ilie Bolojan partnership and refuse the variant of a technocrat prime minister”, Sources from the USR leadership say.
In fact, Dominic Fritz publicly rejected the variant of an apolitical prime minister. “We do not believe that now a technocrat prime minister is what is needed. It takes a political prime minister, not just a notary of the parties”, Explained the USR leader.
President Nicușor Dan is going to designate the prime minister “in two to three days”, sources from the Presidential Administration say. Favorite for the head of the Government is still Ilie Bolojan, but the head of state also takes into account the variant of a technocrat prime minister, if PSD does not accept Bolojan. The installation of the new government depends on the votes of the Social Democrats.
In the discussions held at the Cotroceni Palace, several names were mentioned for the role of technocrat prime minister: Ionuț Dumitru, former president of the Fiscal Council, Anca Dragu, the governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Moldova and Delia Velculescu, former head of the IMF mission in Greece.
