The winning strategy in the shadow. The last US announcement about Ukraine, decrypted by two well -known experts

Two well-known military analysts explain, in an analysis for “Adevărul”, the US game at several heads, after the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, announced that American financing granted to Ukraine would decrease significantly.

The financing for Ukraine was to decrease significantly in 2025, the US Secretary of the US Defense, Pete Hegseth announced on Tuesday night. He made this announcement before a Congress commission, but avoided providing concrete figures. The declaration, if followed by facts, will mark a change of direction in the foreign policy of the United States, given that Washington has been involved in all these years and has provided huge support to Kiev.
“Adevărul” appealed to military analyst Aurel Cazacu and General (R) Dan Grecu, the officer decorated by the US, UN and NATO, today president of the Association of Reserve Officers in Romania, to better understand the Trump administration policy and how the Americans are positioned towards the Ukraine war.
Aurel Cazacu does not believe that the United States of America will give up support for Ukraine and says the Trump administration has other plans.
Washington's calculations
“In my opinion, the American part can make a statement in this regard, in the idea of not being accused of paying more attention to the war in Ukraine than that of the Middle East. Israel is very upset, so between the quotation marks, upset on the United States, because I do not put in the first place to support the Jewish State, Information. says Aurel Cazacu.
At the same time, he admits that the Ukrainians do not receive the help of President Volodimir Zelenski for over three years.
“Mr. Voldimir Zelenski wants a lot of support for the Americans. And it is absolutely normal to be so, but unfortunately the villages seem to do not want to press Russia yet, they do not want to host it even more. And because Americans would not like a confrontation with Russia, they will not seem to cause Russia, nor that it is very involved.A ”, says Cazacu.
Strategic ambiguity has touched its target
General Dan Grecu talks about Donald Trump's strategic ambiguity and recalls that the United States once announced that they stop support for Ukraine, but resumed him after only 3 days.
“” Probably already at the level of the American administration has made a decision in this regard. But let's see how much this decision is in conjunction with what will happen. Because, we know, recently the US administration has suspended military aid for a period of time, after which he realized that the Ukrainians are not the first culprits. Absolutely unrealistic, as proof of what will continue to happen in Ukraine and Russia ”says General Grecu.
On the other hand, Pete Hegseth's announcement could be a mere smoke curtain or tactic, General Dan Grecu believes.
“It can be said that this announcement is also a kind of tactic, in the sense that decreasing the support, on the one hand, for the Ukrainians, on the other hand, the supplementation of sanctions against the Russian Federation, wants to mean the forcing the two combatants to hurry the end of the war. Only no one can give up the war. Understanding. Because I remain in my opinion that the objective of the Russians is what Novorussia meant, ie New Russia”, General Grecu points out.
The war is far from the end
In the opinion of Aurel Cazacu, the Ukraine war will take a long time. At this time, both parties are aiming to impose maximalistic points of view, but things could evolve over time.
“The war in Ukraine will only end when a armistice will be reassured or made in Israel. Because in Israel the war will not end with the struggles there, if there will be no solutions with the territories in which the population is going. Only then, I could speak of peace in Europe, in Ukraine, but that will last”, Says the expert.
Specifically, the war could last even next year and it would not necessarily be a surprise if it continues even more than that.
“Probably some progress will begin to be made in negotiations at the end of the year, but of peace it cannot be spoken”, Explains Aurel Cazacu.
General Dan Grecu also speaks about the same thing. In his opinion, it is excluded that the parties involved in the war will make peace this year. The only good news would be that the US will not abandon Europe and Ukraine in the hands of Russia.
“Donald Trump can't really afford to leave Ukraine in the arms of the Russians because a balance is needed there. Withdrawal from Europe would be a big mistake, and Trump begins to figure out. And it is not the best solution for Americans, because, from my point of view, they have only one serious ally and these are Europeans”, General Dan Grecu points out.
Americans and Europeans, “convicted” to be allied and further
Basically, the United States of America and the European Union have no other options, and the transatlantic alliance is the only one that benefits both parties.
“In reality, no one can take without others, see the value of trade, see military cooperation in ensuring security, at least in the North Hemisphere or say in the west of the continent. Only because of the presence of Americans in Europe are not Russians in the Baltic countries or maybe even further. Because, in the end, you have to take this. Returning and about the European army, in the short and medium term, in the coming years, would not handle without the United States”, General Dan Grecu concludes.
What Romania has to do
Whether or not the Americans will reduce the help given to Ukraine, Romania will have to continue to prepare to discourage any hypothetical enemy. This means that President Nicușor Dan, freshly chosen, does not have much time to accommodate his function and has to give the signal to re -monitor and strengthen the army.
“First of all, dom'le, and the ministers and the government that will be laid should not be changed at least 4 years. The ministers must let four years be able to develop projects for Romania, export projects, projects as a European integrator or with European integration. We can have continuity and development policies and projects.“, Cazacu also shows.
And not just that. The Republic of Moldova is very important in this equation, draws the attention of Aurel Cazacu.
“It would be good for the Government of Romania to appear a ministry of Moldova. Or at least one external secretary of state to be responsible for the relationship with Moldova, but it would be good for a ministry. You do not have to make a ministry of 1,000 employees, they arrive 50, but only a ministry, to have a certain diplomatic degree of representation and it is not to be done. Territorial.”, Concludes Aurel Cazacu.
