Social networks are full of rumors about an inevitable war with Russia, a confrontation to which the Romanian army would be pushed from behind by obscure forces in the West. Including NATO and the European Union would have this interest, the authors of these fakes say.

This is how fake documents appeared that would support the information that Romanians from abroad or those in the country would be called to the recruitment centers. Obviously, it is said that the new recruits would be sent to fight Ukraine in the war with Russia. “They send us to death for Ukraine ”some rushed to say. Last but not least, there are voices that say that the Romanian army was completely subordinated to NATO and that it would be used “against the people”, if people go against the government.

Who and what follows with the anti-NATO and Anti Army Campaign

Nothing more false, says General (r) Virgil Bălăceanu, who claims that Romania is targeted by an informational war, part of a hybrid war. This campaign would not be foreign to the Russian Federation, which triggered a true hybrid war against the NATO states. And Romania, which is very close to the Ukrainian battle Theater, could not be targeted by this informational war, which is masterfully taken by the giant from the East. And when it is not about the intelligence services of the Russian Federation, the train is taken by people who do not understand much, but who enthusiastically adhere to any conspiracy theory.

“We are talking here about a campaign against Romania, but which is also taken against our allies. The campaign concerns our European values and belonging to NATO and the European Union. It is a campaign that is certainly part of a hybrid war and carried against us and which follows the vulnerability of Romania and is trying to cause the population,” says General Virgil Bălăceanu.

The rumors regarding the loss of Romania's sovereignty and its inclination towards the West appeared since last year. However, they took even more extent after the interim president of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, signed this year, on May 19, the decree for promulgating the law on peace time and military operations on the territory of the Romanian state, in parallel with the law on the control of the use of the National Air Space. From here until the launch of a fake news that claims that the Romanian army is now subordinated to NATO and to other states was a single step.

How things are with foreign troops on the territory of Romania

Speaking of the false transfer of authority and about the false subordination of the Romanian Army, General Virgil Bălăceanu claims that, in fact, things are exactly the opposite. This means that the foreign military forces on the territory of Romania are in fact subordinated to the General Staff of Defense.

“Romania for a long time needed the law of peace of peace and military operations on its territory. In reality, not the Romanian army is subordinated to these stable bands on our territory, but things are exactly the opposite. The commanders of these foreign troops were subordinated to the General Staff of the Defense, that is to say, what was subordinated to the defense. The territory of Romania is subordinated to the Romanian commanders. The commander of the Southeast multinational brigade is a Romanian general. says General Virgil Bălăceanu.

Last but not least, in the composition of the body, division, brigadier commandments, most of the officers who run are also Romanian.

Thus, the rumors that have appeared and took on increasingly extent are, in fact, fake News.

A clear principle of NATO and Romania

This is also the case of information on giving up Romania's national sovereignty, but also rumors that Allied military troops can behave as they please.

“Of course, the problem of giving up sovereignty is not raised at all. In fact, all the allied forces on the territory of Romania are obliged to strictly respect the Romanian legislation. So no one came to behave as he pleases in Romania and give us orders, on the contrary.adds General Virgil Bălăceanu.

According to the same principle, the Romanian troops temporarily dislocated on the territories of other states are subordinated to the military structures in these countries, during the period they are there.

“The Romanian forces that are in the territories of other states, temporarily dislocated for combat groups or for other NATO structures in other countries are subordinated to the military commanders there. Of course, temporarily, for the period when they are there. We are present with Romanian military in countries such as Bulgaria, Poland and Slovakia. Antitanc in Slovakia and a module of communications in Bulgaria.”, Says the general.

The best example for the suspicious

He gives as an example the Dacian Spring 2025 exercise, which took place on May 5-23 in the training polygons from Smârdan, Cincu, Bogata, Capu Midia and Frecaţei.

“If we think of the Dacian Spring exercise, it was planned and led by the Multinational Division Command (Southeast) of NATO in Bucharest. The multinational command (south-east) command, is obviously a division, a command, constituted on the territory of Romania, and the commander is of course a Romanian general. military masters or civilian, contractual, from Romania ”explained the general.
