Poland is at the head of the European production of synthetic Katynons, one of the most abused psychoactive substances – according to the report of the European Union agency for drugs (Euda). Polish and Ukrainian criminal groups collaborated when producing the drug – added.

“Large confiscats of precursors in 2023 suggest that the production of synthetic Katynons remains significant in the European Union, especially in Poland. Production lines (there) were liquidated, ranging from these sizes of laboratory + kitchen + kitchen + to large -scale plants” – we read in the report published on Thursday.
As the authors notice, in 2023 53 plants were detected in the EU producing synthetic Katynon, including the most, because 40 in Poland (in 2022 23 laboratories were traced in the country). In total, 2.15 tons of precursors of this drug were confiscated in the Member States, including 735 kg in Poland.
During a press conference related to the publication of the report, director Euda Alexis Goosdeel noticed that the participation of criminal groups from Ukraine is an important topic in this context.
“Thanks to the information received from Poland and from all other countries neighboring Ukraine, which also adopt a huge number of refugees from Ukraine (…), we see new drugs and weapons through Ukraine or Ukraine,” said the head of Euda.
Synthetic Katynones, also known as “bath salts”, are new psychoactive substances introduced to the market in the last 10 years. They have a strong stimulating effect and high addictive potential. Due to easy availability, they quickly became popular.
As mentioned in the report, in 2023 19 plants producing amphetamine, five methamphetamine synthesis laboratories, as well as MDMA production lines were also closed in Poland.
