Recruitment for studies I (bachelor's degree) and II (master's) degree and uniform master's degree at the Jagiellonian University began on Monday at 12. Until 8 am on Tuesday in the five directions, which were received by the most high school graduates' applications, there are: law – 300 candidates; Psychology at the Faculty of Management and Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy – over 200 people; Nursing – 200 candidates; English philology – 100 candidates.

“Nursing (Bachelor Studies) is a direction that first appeared in the top five of the fields with the greatest interest of candidates for studies at this stage of recruitment,” said the head of the recruitment department for the Jagiellonian University Kamil Gajęcki studies on Tuesday. In his opinion, this shows the demand of the labor market for this profession.

At nursing (Bachelor's Studies) of the Jagiellonian University has 200 places prepared. The head of the recruitment department, when asked if the university intends to increase the admission limit, replied that there are no such plans, but the rector in the course of recruitment may decide to accept more people – depending on interest in the direction and didactic possibilities. At the same time, Gajęcki emphasized that these are the first hours of recruitment and the number of existing applications does not mean that the candidates will actually choose nursing, because they may not get or can choose a different direction – if they apprentned to such.

Candidates for uniform master's and 1st degree studies can apply until July 9, and for second -cycle studies until July 16.

The university, as in the previous year, prepared a total of almost 17,000, including almost 2,000. in part -time studies, places for 268 fields of fields, of which six are new products: speech therapy – as uniform master's studies (previously the field of major was conducted in the second degree studies of Master's degree); Contemporary India in the regional and global perspective – bachelor's studies; Joint Bachelor in Sustainability (Basus) – Bachelor Studies; Leader of international cooperation for the green transformation – second degree studies; monitoring and environmental management – second degree; Public Policy and Management – extramural second -level, English -language.

Every year, the Jagiellonian University also closes fields that do not enjoy the interest of candidates and students. In recent years, these are directions related to, among others with Russian culture and language.

About 30,000 studies at the Jagiellonian University people. Kamil Gajęcki pointed out that the number of Polish candidates is slowly falling, which results from demographics. According to CSO data – as the recruitment department manager said – by 2040 there will be about a quarter of high school graduates. According to Gajęcki, after 2030 you can expect the first “potentially large decline in candidates”. “We still have a moment, but this is a moment to start reflecting on the construction of new recruitment strategies,” said the head of the UJ recruitment department.

He admitted that foreigners influence the still high number of students on the Jagiellonian University – there are more and more of them each year. Among the total approx. 30 thousand students at the Jagiellonian University, 5,000 They are foreigners. With each subsequent year in recruitment, it participates by 10-15 percent. more foreigners, and three years ago this increase was as much as 30-40 percent.

Among foreigners, Ukrainians have been the largest group of candidates for studies and students for years. The university is also watching more and more candidates from Asia, especially from China. “Interestingly, China citizens often undertake studies at the Faculty of Polish Studies,” noted Gajęcki in an interview with PAP.

As for this year's recruitment at the Jagiellonian University, as in previous years, only the results obtained from the written part at the extended and bilingual level (in the case of modern foreign languages) will be taken into account. The minimum point thresholds in this year's recruitment will not be lower than 40 points, but for many studies this threshold will be definitely higher. 2.5 thousand places are planned for candidates from abroad.

“Our goal is to acquire the best candidates for studies. We do everything to get the best graduates of Polish and foreign high schools to the Jagiellonian University. And that this can take place with such good results as before, we must all the time work on improving the didactic offer of the Jagiellonian University” – emphasized the rector of the Jagiellonian University prof. Piotr Jedynak.
