The prime minister variant considered “catastrophic for Romania” by the head of the ins: “will have zero authority”

Remus Stefureac, the director of Inscop, said on Saturday that the variant of a technocrat prime minister would be “Catastrophic” For Romania in the current political and economic context. According to him, such a prime minister would not have any authority before the parties and the Parliament, in a period of multiple crises and challenges.

“I think the variant of a technocrat prime minister is catastrophic for Romanians at this time; we have complicated decisions, we also have a war on borders, we have a coalition made up of four parties, in which no party has the majority. A technocrat will have zero authority in front of the ministers, it will have zero authority in front of the parties,” said Stefureac, in the show “In front of you” from Digi24.

He warned that, in such a scenario, all the complaints of the population would focus on President Nicușor Dan, if he supported this government formula. “I do not believe in this formula, I think it would be the most unhappy, and at the end of such an experiment, all the pots, but all the pots of failure, and I think it would be a failure, would obviously break in the head of President Nicușor Dan, because he would be the only one who will aspire to all the dissatisfaction. Security and in a situation where our political regime, our democracy is in crisis. ”

Possible occurrence of new parties

Ștefureac also said that if the current pro-Western coalition will not work, there is space for the emergence of new political formations. “The Romanian society is more dynamic. We may see a party of Ponta”, the sociologist said.

However, he drew attention to an important electorate: 44% of Romanians would support parties with extremist, populist or radical messages, according to polls. “Attention, it does not mean that the voters of these parties are extremists. Of course, there can be people who resonate extremist ideas, but they are an ultra-minority,” explained the director of Inscop.

Ștefureac believes that the lack of access to the benefits of development and disintegration of local communities, caused by the massive migration of young people, created a frustrated, vulnerable electorate.
