Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid demand the start of the start to the Liga if they reach the eliminatory phases at the World Club Championship
The World Club Championship, which will end on July 13, 2025, could significantly reduce the period of recovery and training of the players of the two teams, if they will advance in the eliminatory phases of the competition.
In this context, Real and Atletico believes they would be disadvantaged in front of the other teams in La Liga, who will benefit from a complete competitive break.
Fabrizio Romano wrote on his Facebook page that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid demanded the start of the La Liga season, on August 24th instead of August 17, if the two reach the eliminatory phases at the World Club Championship.

La Liga wants to reprogram the derby of Madrid on August 27. The other clubs do not agree
La Liga President Javier Tebas opposes the requirement of the two teams in Madrid and said he does not want to modify the internal competition calendar for the World Club Championship, stressing that no other championships have resorted to such changes.
Tebas, however, suggested the reprogramming of the Madrid derby for August 27, October 29 or December 3, but the last two variants overlap with other internal competitions, such as Copa del Rey. La Liga prefers the first option, August 27, but the other clubs do not agree, according to AS.com.
A final decision is expected regarding the requirement of the two teams after drawing the calendar at Liga, at the end of June.
At Liga and AF, they make efforts to find a solution that ensures both the rights of the players and the good performance of the competition.
