Timișoara received the first electric tram from the 33rd lot with which they modernize their fleet after 15 years

Bozankaya, a company specialized in the manufacture of ecological vehicles for public transport, delivered the first trolleybus from the group of 33 vehicles purchased by the City Hall of Timisoara, according to a press release of the builder. The last time that the City Hall of Timisoara purchased new trolleybuses happened 15 years ago.

The trolleybus delivered by Bozankaya is part of a larger contract signed by the company with the municipality of Timișoara, which provides for the delivery of 8 12-meter trolleybuses and 25 articulated trolleybuses of 18 meters. Modern means of transport will be delivered gradually, until the fall of this year, according to the company.

12 -meter vehicles have a transport capacity of up to 100 passengers, of which 34 seats. They can reach a maximum speed of 80 km/h, and the autonomy is up to 40 km in the without charging areas. The total value of the 8 12 m trolleybuses is 20,292,000 lei excluding VAT.

The state -of -the -art trolleybuses have safety systems, air conditioning, chairs, wireless internet, mobile phones and other facilities.

The new trolleybuses will contribute to the objectives of Timişoara on clean energy, through zero carbon emissions and energy efficient technologies. Our company wants to contribute to the quality of urban transport in Timisoara and other cities in Romania,” says Aytunç Günkaya press release.

“Half of Timisoara already use public transport for their travels in the city, a clear signal that investments in the modernization of the fleet are starting to give results. We have an increase of almost 20% in recent years, and this shows us that we are on the right track. There are still steps to do, but I am confident that, in a few years, public transport will become the main option,”

In recent years, Bozankaya has delivered 38 modern trams in Timisoara, in two installments. In Romania, the Turkish company is also present in Iasi, where it has signed two contracts for the supply of modern trams. Based on the first agreement, Bozankaya delivered 16 vehicles, and within the second, 18 trams.
