The head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat, announced on Tuesday evening that experts from Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Hungary will come, starting on Wednesday, in Romania to evaluate the situation from Praid and to help Romanian specialists find the best solutions, informs news.ro.

“Tonight I had video conference with the European Commission, with the 8 experts selected to come to Romania, to support our experts. We will have experts from Spain, from the Netherlands, from Germany and Hungary, who will come to Romania, will start to arrive from tomorrow afternoon and will be at our disposal for several days, of course, with our experts To be put on the table of the prime minister and on the Government table, to make the decisions in consensus with the recommendations that come, “said Raed Arafat on Tuesday evening.

According to DSU chief, experts must answer three main questions.

“The risk of the locality, if there is any risk on Praid locality, on the area, in terms of risk on people, in particular, the environment and impact on the environment and what are the solutions we can apply and whether the solutions we have applied so far can be harmed or not (…) and the third thing, what happens to the saline.”

The Ministry of Interior and the Emergency Department have activated the European support mechanism for Salina Praid, closed due to floods and where there is a risk of collapse of the old mine floor, announced the Minister of Economy, Bogdan Ivan.

According to the dignitary, “the European Commission was transmitted to the list of the necessary specialists and technical equipment to do the mining segment expertise and to have the best specialists in Europe”, which will give “the best solutions” so that no money and resources are not invested.

“We do not allow ourselves that the errors that have taken place in the past, locally, be repeated,” the minister said.

Also, the Minister of the Environment Mircea Fechet will pay a work visit to the area, together with the Minister of Economy, Bogdan Ivan, and representatives of authorities and institutions with competences in the field.

“There will be technical discussions with the specialists present on the spot, to evaluate the situation and to ensure the resources necessary for the intervention,” the ministry officials said.
