Useful but useless? The doctor revealed the truth about the benefits of carrots for vision

The advice “there is more carrots” for good vision everyone heard. Many are really sure that the regular use of carrots and blueberries supports the health of the eyes and will help to avoid vision problems in the future. However, experts do not overestimate the “magical” properties of individual products and look at the question wider.

The ophthalmologist, practicing an ophthalmic chamber of the Center for Visual Restoration in the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Vitaly Ivanov said in an interview with IA EAMEDIA that the modern diet of most Russians already contains the required amount of vitamins and minerals, including those responsible for the health of the eyes. Therefore, additional reception of additives or emphasis on individual products like carrots is far from always justified.

According to the expert, a balanced diet is the basis, but carrots and blueberries are not a panacea. Yes, they contain beneficial substances, including beta-carotene and anthocyans, which are involved in metabolic processes and can have a general supporting effect. But there is no scientifically confirmed data that they improve vision or prevent its deterioration.

“There are more carrots and blueberries for the benefits of the eyes are unproven recommendations,” the expert is sure.

According to the doctor, carrots and blueberries are delicious and healthy products, but you should not consider them as a medicine for vision problems. It is much more important to observe the mode of operation at the computer, do gymnastics for the eyes and give them a vacation, and if you worsen vision, you should seek help from a specialist.
