US President Donald Trump remains “ready” to meet in Turkey with his Ukrainian and Russian counterparts, Volodimir Zelenski and Vladimir Putin, his spokesman, Karoline Leavitt, said AFP on Monday.
President Trump “has already said that he is prepared, if he is there, but he wants the two leaders and both sides to come together at the negotiation table,” Karoline Leavitt told the press.
The statement comes after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposed a summit again between Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the Ukrainian Volodomir Zelenski and the American Donald Trump, “in Istanbul or Ankara.”
“My greatest wish (…) is to bring together Putin and Zelenski to Istanbul or Ankara and bring Trump next to them. If they accept, I will join them, to make Istanbul a center of peace,” Erdogan said at the end of the second meeting between Russian and Ukrainian delegations.
The head of the Turkish state believes that the “meeting is a success in itself, after yesterday's events”, referring in particular to the bold attack with Drone launched by Kiev on Sunday against military aerodromes at the depth of the Russian territory. (AFP)
