Two railway bridges in Russia have collapsed. The authorities do not rule out that it is sabotage


The first collapse took place late in the evening on Saturday, May 31 in the Bryan region, near the border with Ukraine. At 22:44 the road bridge collapsed to the railway line, causing the derailment of the passenger train.
Seven people were killed, and at least 66 were injured, including three children – Aleksander Bogomaz informed the Bryńska Governor.
Films published in social media show rescuers working at the scene of the incident and passengers calling for help. – How did the bridge collapsed? There are children there! – one of the women shouted in the film.
The train went from the city of Klimowo to Moscow when the bridge collapsed at him. State Russian Railways State Railway Operator blamed the accident “illegal interference”but he did not provide any details.
Photos published by the authorities show a large fragment of the bridge collapsed on the track, and nearby several crushed vehicles and railway wagons. Rescuers continued the action all night.
Rescue services and repair trains were sent to the scene. Russian prosecutors informed about the initiation of an investigation, but they did not give who could stand behind the alleged “illegal interference”.
Aleksander Chinsztein, acting as a governor, announced that early in the morning On Sunday, June 1, another bridge in the Kurski region collapsed, in the area of the city of Żeleznogorsk.
The bridge collapsed during the freight train. Part of the train fell on the road below, and the internal combustion locomotive lit. The fire was quickly extinguished.
All members of the locomotive crew were hospitalized. One of them suffered leg injuries. The highway under the bridge remains closed. The authorities have announced that the reason for the collapse of the bridge in the Kurski region is still unknown.
Since the start of the full -glass invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia has experienced dozens of cases of railway lines sabotage. The authorities did not blame Ukraine directly for the last incidents, but similar acts took place during the ongoing war. Kyiv did not comment on the matter.
The bridges were collapsed a few days before the possible meeting of Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, which is part of peaceful efforts conducted by the United States.
