Trump says goodbye to Musk. “He is one of the biggest business leaders in the world”

During the press conference in the oval office, President Donald Trump officially thanked Elon Musk for cooperation, who finished his work for the White House on Friday, and called the billionaire one of the biggest business leaders in the world.

The president said that many Doge employees, i.e. the government's effectiveness department, headed by Musk, will continue to work for his administration, and the boss of Tesla and Spacex, who “did a fantastic job”, will continue to “fall into Washington”.

Musk assured that he would still be Trump's “adviser and friend”. As the New York Times comments, both the president and the current head of Doge are trying to blur the impression that there were misunderstandings between them.

The billionaire said that his departure from Doge does not mean the end of the work of this team, and he is convinced that over time this department would lead – according to his promises – to save $ 1 from the US budget.

The journalist's attention that opinions on Musk's activity as part of the work for US administration are divided, and only conservatives speak positively about him, Trump reacted saying that “Elon has saved many human lives”, providing Ukraine with a network of satellite online communication of Starlink. He added that Musk has many successes, his “life was great”, and the return of the SpaceX rocket to the docking station was so spectacular that he looked like a film effect.

“NYT” emphasizes that although officially a press conference in the oval office was to be devoted to farewell to Musk, it quickly turned into a session of the questions of journalists and the president's declaration on other topics, from wars in Ukraine and Gaza Strip, to the draft budget act, the conflict of the White House with Harvard and commercial voltages in relations with China.

Trump has returned several times to the topic of fighting immigration and said that countries around the world empty psychiatric hospitals, wanting to send their patients to the USA, and most immigrants – are “cold, hardened criminals” who want to get rid of the rule of their countries to save money.

This was commented by Musk, who assessed that “the fundamental disadvantage of the West is empathy for criminals.” He also said that the courts who are trying to stop the president are progressing “unconstitutional”.

Earlier on Friday, Axios reminded that during the election campaign Musk promised that Doge would contribute to cutting expenses by $ 2 tribute, i.e. almost a third of the entire annual budget. Now the billionaire declares that he has saved USD 175 billion, but according to independent analyzes it is an amount of $ 16 billion.

On Tuesday, Musk thanked Trump for “a chance to reduce unnecessary expenses” of the government.
