Parking fees have been growing from June 1. Tourists will pay more in the popular city

The inhabitants of Sopot, having a Sopot card, will pay less – PLN 2 for the first hour of parking (instead of the previous PLN 2.60). This relief will be able to be used twice a day. For comparison, the new base rate for the first hour of parking will be PLN 6.90, which means a significant increase compared to the current PLN 5.20.
The increases will also apply to subsequent parking hours:
– second hour: PLN 8.20 (currently PLN 6.20),
– third hour: PLN 9.80 (currently PLN 7.40),
– each subsequent: PLN 6.90 (currently PLN 5.20).
For people planning a longer stop during the day, the fee for the whole day (from 9.00 to 22.00) will increase to PLN 93.90 from the current PLN 70.80.
Changes in subscriptions: Benefits for residents and people with disabilities
The new rules introduce better conditions for residents and people with disabilities:
– “M” subscription for residents: PLN 100 per month (instead of PLN 115), without a limit of the number of vehicles;
– “N” subscription for people with disabilities: PLN 5 for 30 days. Parking will remain free in dedicated places (so -called blue envelopes).
For other users, the rates will increase:
– subscription “O” public: PLN 500 per month (currently PLN 350);
-“E” subscription for plug-in hybrid vehicles: PLN 100 per month.
There is a flat -rate fee of PLN 10 for 30 days without changes.
Higher penalties for the lack of a parking ticket
The additional fee for the lack of a valid parking ticket will increase to PLN 300, but if it is settled within seven days, the amount will be reduced to PLN 200. A new feature is the lack of a limit of such fees during the year.
Extension of zone borders and seasonal changes
The paid parking zone will be expanded. Seasonal subzones A1 (ul. Winieckiego) and C1 (Forest Opera) will be included in year -round zones A and C. This means that the fees in these regions will apply throughout the year at from 9.00 to 22.00.
According to Anna Dyksińska, spokeswoman for the Road and Green Board in Sopot, increases result from the need to adapt rates to rising costs, including the increase in the minimum wage. This is the first change of fees from the beginning of 2023.
The introduced modifications are aimed at balanceing the interests of residents and tourists, while providing the city for maintaining parking infrastructure.
