Economist Cristian Păun said, in an interview for News.ro, that the Government must first reform the state and cut unnecessary expenses, saying about the promoters of tax increases in the current context that it actually advocates “to maintain the stakes, to maintain the self, to maintain the same inefficiency”.

“The fact that we come now and advocate for higher taxes means that, in fact, we plead for maintaining the gaze, to maintain the self, to maintain the same inefficiency of the Romanian state. So, practically, we advocate for the statu-quo: to change nothing. System of privileges, either they have never made a business in their lives or have never spoken in their lives with entrepreneurs who are tormented in two directions, ”said Cristian Păun.

“A huge fiscal pressure on the business environment”

Cristian Păun believes that the business environment is experiencing “huge daughter pressure”.

“There is a huge fiscal pressure on the business environment, especially on small and medium -sized enterprises – and this situation is real, it has been worsened in the last two years – but also large companies are stressed with the tax on the pillar, with all kinds of tax aberrations, profit gauge, the tax on the turnover. Also, an over-taxation.

He accused those who plead for increasing taxes of “they are anti-Romanian” and “I do not understand the context”.

“Those who come today and say” No, sir, to increase taxes! “, My opinion is that they are anti-Romanian in the end and I do not understand the context, I do not understand that the Romanian economy does not work well, I do not understand that there are some important external dangers that can make things in Romania!

“I do not know what I read or what these economists smoke”

Asked about economists who talk about potential solutions such as progressive taxation, tax increase, Cristian Păun replied: “I do not know what I read or smoke these economists you are talking about, but the economic literature of studies shows that between the economic freedom and the development of a nation there is a direct proportional connection!”

“Somehow we should defend the mistress of economic freedom-I repeat, which also includes taxation-and even try to improve it over time, doubled with an increase in our classification in the corruption, bureaucracy, the inefficiency of the governance, the act of governance, that we are not in an extraordinary state! Bureaucratic, a non -productive, inefficient state?
