The EU must tighten the position towards Israel

During a visit to Singapore The French leader assessed that “humanitarian blockade means that the situation in the Gaza Strip is impossible to accept”. He also announced that if in the next “days and hours” Israel does not take steps to improve the living conditions of civilians, the EU will have to “exacerbate its common position.”
Macron suggested that sanctions are possible if Israel continues to ignore human rights standardswhich can lead to the suspension of “processes that assumed respect for human rights – which currently does not take place.”
The French President expressed the hope that the Israeli government would change his approach to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and react responsibly. He also reminded that the creation of an independent Palestinian state is “not only a moral duty but also a political necessity.”
In recent days, Israel has allowed the resumption of supplies of humanitarian aid, but – according to international organizations – the scale of support is still insufficient. The blockade of transports lasting for nearly three months led to a deepening humanitarian crisis, including an increase in hunger among Gaza residents.

Israel strongly criticizes Macron
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the accusations, claiming that talking about a continuous blockage is a “glaring lie”. The ministry emphasized that only in the past week nearly 900 trucks entered the Palestinian territory with humanitarian aid. Meanwhile, according to the UN, the needs of the residents of the Gaza Strip require at least 500 trucks a day.
Macron also reminded that in June France together with Saudi Arabia organizes a conference on a “two -state solution”, i.e. the idea of creating an independent Palestinian state next to Israel – a concept that the Israeli government consistently rejects, despite the broad international support, including the EU and UN.
In an emotional statement, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized Macron, claiming that “instead of putting pressure on Islamic terrorists, Macron wants to reward them with Palestinian state with state.” The ministry also added that the French president “continues his crusade against the Jewish state.”
International pressure on Israel is growing, both because of the continued offensive in gas and insufficient inflow of humanitarian aid. Macron has already described Israel's policy towards civilians in Gaza as “shameful” and “unacceptable”. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu then replied that the French president disseminates “anti -Semitic slander”.
In recent days, Macron, together with the premieres of Great Britain and Canada, Keir Starmer and Mik Carney, threatened Israel with “specific actions” if the offensive in the Gaza Strip does not stop.
