The German politician wants to resume talks with Russia about Nord Stream 2

This project is “a possible opportunity for dialogue with Russia,” argued Michael Kretschmer. “We will either try to force Russia or try a positive approach,” he added.
Kretschmer said that the gas pipeline can also be a way to fight high energy costs that harass the German economy, especially from the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He admitted, however, that for now most German politicians are not ready to change the strategy.
Chancellor Merz against restarting Nord Stream 2
Maintaining the veto of the previous government regarding the launch of this gas pipeline, Chancellor Friedrich Merz spoke at the beginning of May against any restarting Nord Stream 2, declaring that “there is currently no permission to exploit and this will not change,” commented the weekly Kretschmer.
