Fenerbahce and Monaco, trained by two former teammates, played in the Euroliti final

On Friday, May 23, in Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, Fenerbahce and Monaco surprised Panathinaikos and Olympiacos and refused the Greek fans to see their favorites in the fight for the trophy.

Therefore, the duel for the title was given among the Turks, trained by Sarunas Jasikevicius, and Monegasci, prepared by Vassilis Spanoulis. The two were colleagues at Panathinaikos in the 2008-2009 season, when the Athens band conquered Euroliga.

As opponents, the situation of the two was very different. Spanoulis is in the first season as a coach in Euroliga, while Jasikevicius has been 5 times as a technician in the end of this competition, but he has never been able to win it.

Fenerbahce, triumphant after a last dominant last quarter in confrontation with Monaco

The first three quarters of the final were balanced. Monaco awarded his inaugural act (20-18), Fenerbahce returned to the second sequence and entered the locker rooms (33-35), and, 10 minutes before, the score was 54-51 for the Turks.

The situation has changed in the decisive quarter. Nigel Hayes-Davis, Marko Guduric and Wade Baldwin led Fenerbahce's offensive, and the Monegasci did not keep up. Jasikevicius asked Time-out in key moments, stop the attempts to return the opponents and, finally, Fenerbahce imposed with 81-70.

So, 8 years after the 2017 title, when she was trained by the legendary Zeljko Obodovic, the team from Istanbul again won Euroliga.

Fenerbahce's leaders were Nigel Hayes-Davis (23 points, 9 recovery), which was called the final MVP, Marko Guduric (19 points, 6 recovery), Wade Baldwin (13 points) and Donta Hall (13 points).

On the other side, Alpha Diallo (19 points), Mike James (17 points), Matthew Strazel (13 points) and Daniel Theis (12 points, 8 recovery) were noted.
