Bernadette Szocs, silver medal at the World Tennis Championships

Bernadette Szocs (30 years old) and Sofia Polcanova (30 years old) won silver at the World Table Tennis Championships in Doha. The Romanian-Austrian pair was defeated in the final, score 0-3 (6-11, 6-11, 5-11) by Chinese Manyu Wang and Man Kuai.

The European vice-champions Szocs and Polcanova doubled on Sunday, May 25, the performance from the Continental tour with a silver medal at the World Table Tennis Championships. The two players were overcome, in the fight for gold, by Manyu Wang, the world vice -champion, and by Man Kuai.

In the final, the pair Szocs and Polcanova will take place with the Chinese pair Manyu Wang/Man Kuai, who passed the Romanian-Spanish couple Adina Diaconu/Maria Xiao.

It is for the first time in 1977 when in the final of the women's doubles, players in Europe qualifies at the Mass World Tennis.

Romania has not obtained a medal at the World Cup in 2019, when Ovidiu Ionescu and the Spanish Alvaro Robles won the silver in the male double sample.

For women, this will be the first medal won by Romania at the Individual World Championships, after a 32 -year break.
