The mayor of Alba Iulia, Gabriel Pleșa, said on Wednesday, in a Facebook post, that in the presidential final of Sunday Nicușor Dan “lost” 350 votes because in the polling station no. 42 of the city “a reversal of the results in the final minutes” occurred, and “the electoral law does not allow the correction of these data once the minutes are signed and transmitted, even if the error is recognized”.

He congratulated the Albanians for the victory of Nicușor Dan in the municipality.

“In the second round of the presidential elections of 2025, you have shown, once again, that Alba Iulia is a city with a European vision and attached to the democratic values. With a score of 61.99% for the pro-European candidate Nicușor Dan, you sent a clear message: the future of Romania is in Europe,” wrote Gabriel Pleșa.

However, the mayor brought them “to be aware of a regrettable situation.”

“In the polling station no. 42, after the end of the votes counting, there was a reversal of the results in the final report: 690 votes were passed for George Simion and 338 for Nicușor Dan, although all the members of the section confirmed that the real result was exactly the opposite, similar to the neighboring section”, added Gabriel Pleșa.

He said that “the electoral law does not allow the correction of this data once the minutes are signed and transmitted, even if the error is recognized.”

“For this reason, the official score for the municipality of Alba Iulia remained 61.99%, instead of 62.89%, how much the reality would have reflected. I want to express my sincere apologies towards you, those who voted the pro-European candidate in that section. Your vote matters, it was valid and it is worth recognized-even if, for the reasons, it did not appear in the official,”

Gabriel Pleșa says that, thus, Nicușor Dan lost 350 votes, but he won in Alba Iulia anyway with an advance of almost 10,000 votes compared to George Simion.

“Even though, officially, Nicușor Dan lost those 350 votes, the difference between him and George Simion was almost 10,000 votes, so I thank you for the involvement, for the civic spirit and for the direction you give to this city,” concluded the mayor of Alba Iulia, Gabriel Pleșa.

Nicușor Dan won the second round of presidential elections with over 6.16 million votes. George Simion obtained almost 5.34 million.

In Alba Iulia, Nicușor Dan officially received 24,296 votes, while his counter -candidate has 14,899.
