After two years of exile on the Montjuic stadium, Barcelona knows the date on which he will play again in the traditional wind. On August 10, the Spanish champion will hold the first match on New Spotify Camp Nou, on the occasion of the Joan Gamper trophy. The reconstruction works were started after the match with Mallorca (3-0) of May 28, 2023.
The project of renovation granted to a Turkish company was affected by several delays compared to the terms given for the return of Barcelona to Camp Nou. The Blaugrana team had to play on the arena rebuilt at the end of November 2024 (on a partially completed stadium), for the event to coincide with the 125th anniversary of the Catalan club.
In February, Barcelona stated that he hopes to play matches on Camp Nou a little later this season, with 60,000 spectators in the stands. But even now, after half a year, the move was not possible! The club decided to finish the season in Montjuic and return to the new stadium with the start of Laliga 2025-2026.
The costs of the arena reconstruction are 1.7 billion euros!
A few days after Hansi Flick's team celebrated the title, the long -awaited official announcement came: Barcelona has a date to return to New Spotify Camp Nou. August 10, that is over 82 days.
Then, a new edition of the Joan Gamper trophy will be played, the usual friendly party announcing the start of the 2025-2026 season. The information was revealed by the president of the club, Joan Laporta, during a television interview.
Spotify Camp Nou will thus become the largest football stadium in Europe, increasing its capacity from 99,354 places to 105,000, the costs, currently estimated, for its reconstruction amounts to 1.7 billion euros!
Inaugurated in 1957, Camp Nou will have a major “facelift”. The third floor will support the biggest changes, the new Spotify Camp Nou to benefit from a full roof and huge tables.
