The president of Nicuşor Dan published on Tuesday evening a message providing “all Americans” that Romania will keep its “firm commitment” towards the relationship with the United States. “I am confident that Romania will have a remarkable relationship with the Trump Administration,” said Nicușor Dan, thus responding to a first message transmitted previously during the day by the US, through the voice of the Embassy in Bucharest, after the result of the elections on Sunday.

“I appreciate the message transmitted by the US Embassy. I want to assure all Americans of Romania's firm commitment in relation to the United States in every aspect of our strategic partnership,” said the president elected, in the message written in English and posted on the social network X.

“I am confident that Romania will enjoy a remarkable relationship with the Trump administration and that the United States will continue to be a guarantor of security and development for our country,” he continued.

“Everyone understands how important it is for us, the relations with the United States and how much we appreciate cooperation such as American military bases, energy partnerships and developing commercial relations between the two countries,” said Nicușor Dan.

“May God bless the sustainable friendship between America and Romania,” concluded the president elected.

The United States of America sent the first message to Nicușor Dan on Tuesday, coming through the diplomatic mission in Bucharest.

“We are waiting with interest to collaborate with Nicuşor Dan, as president of Romania, and with the new government, to promote our common priorities, such as defense, energy and commercial partnerships,” said the message on the Facebook and X pages of the US Embassy.

The message of the diplomatic representation had come a few hours after the embassy officially announced the withdrawal of Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec, which will be temporarily replaced by the deputy head of the mission, Michael Dickerson.

The US Embassy announced on May 18 that it observed the second round of elections.

During the election campaign, the US Embassy sent several messages on democracy, an echo of the Trump administration after the annulment of the Romanian elections, explicitly expressed by JD Vance Vice President.
