An Egyptian military training plane crashed Monday during an exercise, none of the unattended crew members, said an army spokesman in a statement, without specifying the number of victims, according to AFP, taken by Agerpres.
“As part of the air forces training activity, a training plane collapsed in one of the exercise areas due to a technical problem, which led to the death of the crew,” said the quoted spokesman, without providing any information about the exact number of victims or the accident site.
The Egyptian army has a diverse fleet of fighter jets and helicopters, especially from Russia, the US and France.
Accidents with military aircraft are still rare in Egypt, despite a few reported in recent years.
In November 2024, two aircraft officers lost their lives during a flight exercise.
Two years earlier, a fighter plane crashed without causing victims. In December 2019, a pilot survived an accident, managing to catapult, AFP recalls.
